Stone Coating
Miniature stone coating is a ground stone water based paint, it can be applied just like any normal paint and leaves an authentic stone effect finish, which is also hard wearing and waterproof.
It's almost impossible to tell the difference.
Achieve many different effects including rough stone, pebble dash, fine dressed stone, brickwork, stone cladding and more.
Basic Application:Miniature stone coating has many different applications, such as the exterior walls of buildings, roofs, architectual mouldings, and garden features, interior floors, fireplaces and craft projects etc.
* 1. Prepare the surface, making sure it is clean, dry and free from dirt, dust or grease.
* 2.Apply the matching base coat primer to the surface if flaky or porous.
* 3. Using a brush apply at least 2-3 thin coats of Miniature Stone Coating, ensuring the previous coat is thoroughly dry.
Rough Stone, Pebbledash:Follow the basic Application instructions then stipple the drying surface with a small sponge wrapped in cling film, a stencil brush or fine toothbrush.
Fine Dressed Stone:Follow the Basic Application instructions then wipe the surface of the final coat with a small dry sponge while still wet or lightly abrade after drying to remove some of the stone particles.
Card Brick or Stonework Slips:This method is perfect for brick and stone cladding, which helps to successfully provide many different authentic period exteriors.
- 1. Paint a sheet of non-corrugated card with at least two thin coats of Miniature Stone Coating.
- 2. Once dry cut out the bricks with a craft knife and rule, or scissors.
- 3. Paint the area to be covered with Stone Coating Primer or topcoat in either 'grey slate' or 'grey lime', this will provide a suitable mortar colour.
- 4. Glue the slips into place with PVA or craft glue.
