How to use Crack Varnish!
Give your object a rustic well worn look.
- (1) Paint the object with Waco Robinson White and allow to dry thoroughly. Clean brush with water.Drying time approx 1/2 hour.
- (2) Brush an even coating of Crack Varnish 1 over the dried Fine White.Drying time 4-5 hours (Leave the varnish to dry until it no longer feels sticky).Clean brush with Waco Thinner. Lengthen drying time to obtain small cracks in the next coat of Crack Varnish 2. Shorten drying time to obtain big cracks in the next coat of Crack Varnish 2.
- (3) Apply Crack Varnish 2 evenly and not too thickly. After a while cracks will start to appear. Drying time approx 4 hours.
- (4)&(5) Apply a Patina: Soak linen cloth in Patina, add a little Umbra, mix and rub into the painted object(For large objects, mix the Patina and Umbra in a bowl).
- (6) To finish, rub over the object again with a clean cloth(using a touch of Patina if you wish), and wipe off any excess mixture. The cracks in Crack Varnish 2 should now be clearly visible.
Important:
Place soaked linen cloth in water after use. Highly flammable.
- (7) Leave for a week and then wipe off Crack Varnish2 with a damp cloth.
